This morning I had a beautiful vision. In the vision I saw a door ajar leading to my bedroom. The bed was made with blue blanket and assorted pillows lay on top. It was bright, full of sunlight. In this vision the door and the bedroom were in my Heart.
Some of you may know how much I love my home. How much affection and care I’ve poured into creating this beautiful, nurturing, inspiring, supportive surrounding I call home. And some of you know how reluctant and resistant I’ve been to leave.
I used to define homes like in Paul Young’s song “Wherever I lay my hat that’s my home”. If I got attached to places it was out of convenience and comfort, or maybe I was just afraid of change. I used to travel a lot for business and pleasure and I called my hotel rooms – home. Wherever I lay my hat or head that was my home.
When I came back to England I’ve made a decision, you can say I had an end result in mind. I came here to settle down, no more running, no more moving, no more living out of a suitcase, no more fear of commitment ah ;). I was always ready to pack up my bags and leave, even when I say I didn’t, I did.
Here I made a commitment from the start to stay and build something, create something. My home was a starting point. It felt like I was nesting ( don’t freak out guys, I’ve been doing enough of that myself ).
It took me awhile to understand that by pouring all this love into my home it became an extension of my being. A reflection of who I am. ( deep ah? )
It was only a flat at the beginning, four walls. We didn’t get along right away.
“My flat and I are having a love affair / it took us time to warm up to each other / there were boxes everywhere…“
There were things to fix, torn blinds, plumbing issues. Like any relationship we had to work on it. ( ok maybe not exactly like any relationship unless you do have plumbing issues and in that case I suggest you see a doctor :)).
I took my time until I had the money and until I found what I was looking for and what I really liked, to furnish and decorate my home. I wanted to create a home that I love. So I went without, until it was right.
And now at the end of the day ( or two years ) it is still four walls, a structure. But what’s inside is magic, a palace, a magical kingdom, my kingdom.
The highlight of my home and the first room to be fully furnished was my bedroom. It happened to be in the Love area of my flat according to Feng Shui which was perfect. And I’ve made the perfect bedroom – to fall asleep at night and wake up in the morning: beautiful, comfortable, peaceful, inspiring, full of what I love and romantic to boot. A perfect place for resting, dreaming and loving.
All I needed was someone to share it with, or so I thought. A lover, a mate, a soul mate. Like in the “field of dreams” movie “if you build it … ” he will come.
Little did I know that the love I would find in the love area of my home is the love in my heart. I didn’t realize until this morning that all this “nesting”, creating this nurturing, supportive, beautiful environment allowed me to “give birth” to a lovely, beating, passionate Heart.
With this beautiful vision of a door open to a “bedroom” ( the love area ) in my heart the creation was complete. My heart is open to love and I am committed to listening to and seeing my heart and act upon what my heart tells me, what I love.
The home as a metaphor to who I am and the bedroom/’love area’ to my heart. My desire to share my home with my true love is a desire to share my heart with my soul mate, whoever and wherever he is.
By creating a rich magical world outside of me I was reflecting the rich beautiful world I have inside. And this kind of richness will always be with me wherever I go, wherever I lay my head 😉 and whomever I am with.
The journey that started with a longing led to uncover what’s in my heart and discover love in all of its aspects. It led to having this amazing experience of knowing what I would love and being committed to love and to serve love.
We all have this enormous capacity to love, we are born with it. It is our birthright!! Some of us spend our lives imposing conditions and restrictions on our love and neglect our heart’s desires. ( I know I did )
Who knew that my biggest teacher of love this past year will be my flat aka my home, my own loving creation.
“Through creation of what we love, we learn more about love and loving.” ~Leor
So now I am ready to go, move on to the next chapter in my life, a new adventure. I still want to share my life with my soul mate and create a loving home; maybe we’ll create it together.
More about what I’d love and creation in future posts. Join me in celebrating my home by watching the Love Your Home Video in the post http://wp.me/pCdPp-6a.
I encourage you to connect with what you love, what is in your heart and create it outside. To be open to love and to new experiences. Remember to celebrate what you’ve created out of love.
I would love to hear about the love and creations in your life so please leave comments.
Thank you for letting me share this with you,
Love yourself, Love your creations,
Love You,
~Leor
