This site is an AI-Free Creative Zone. What do I mean by that?
To explain it I’ll first describe my understanding of art and the creative process. By Art I include painting, sculptures, digital art as well as poetry, stories, prose, videos, music and dance.
How do I create ART?
My creative process might differ from other people’s. Although I’m sure there are many people who create in the same way.
Whether it’s a poem, a story, or a piece of music, it’s usually a burst of emotions, thoughts, images and/or tunes. The words just come to me, in either the form of a poem, lyrics to a known song, a story, or a post. I see it as an explosion that comes out of me or through me. A burst of inspiration.
With written art forms: I don’t plan in advance what to say, I don’t research, I don’t know in advance that I will write something. The words just come to me in the form they want to express themselves and I write them down.
With painting, save for observational painting, I usually have an image in my mind, received in a dream, meditation, or just appeared in my head. I will then put it on paper. The image burst into my head, just like the words burst into my head.
With sculptures and marker drawings: I let my hands express what wants to be expressed. My hands start drawing or playing with clay and a drawing or a sculpture is born.
And when I created a piano piece of music as a teenager, I did it in a similar way. I let my fingers hit the keys on the piano and a piece of music came into life, which I later called Vertigo. The music just came through me, through my hands. (Unfortunately, this piece of music is now lost).
I treat photos as observational art. I see something that I want to capture in the moment. And with staged photos, like most of Toto’s photos, I have an idea or image in my head first.
As you can see, the way I perceive the creative process is very similar to energy channelling. I’m channelling the divine, the soul, inspiration, whatever you want to call it, through me into art.
AI and Art
Can AI create art? Even though everything has a soul, even inanimate objects like Toto, I am going to contradict myself and say AI doesn’t have a soul. Even if it has a soul, maybe the soul of its creator, it cannot channel the divine. So how can it create art? It can create pretty pictures. It can create the mechanism of a song or a tune, but it is not an expression of its soul, of the divine. Inspiration doesn’t flow through it.
So I don’t know if we can call whatever AI creates Art in the way I perceive and create art.
I see AI as a tool, not a creator.
AI-Free Creative Zone
I called this website an AI-Free Creative Zone because the art here is original, the voice is my voice, the images are mine or the divine’s. And when I collab with other artists, their art will be their original work.
