Self Love transcends your life and enables you to reach out and connect with people on a deeper level.
It starts with being your own best friend. While truly in love, making sure your own needs are met, you are able to give support to your friends, loved ones and even strangers.
What would you do for a friend? A loved one? Are you your own best friend?
I wrote this poem ten years ago about friendship. I truly love my friends as if they were part of my family and who says they arenβt.
Friendship
June 1999
I wanted to give you a hand
but I didnβt know which one.
I wanted to be your friend
but I didnβt know how.
Feelings run deep,
tears of sadness and delight.
I wanted to see you smile
and your eyes sparkling with light.
I wanted to share my light with you
clear up the sky for you
chase away the dark.
I didnβt know when to light the fire,
where to place the stars.
I didnβt know whether to use wind
to drive the clouds away
or let the sun –
the rain to dry.
I wanted to give you a hand.
Be your friend.
Give you a shoulder to lean on
and a smile
to keep you warm.
I didnβt know when or how to
be your friend.
So take my hands –
each one.
I will turn on the stars at night
and clear the sky of clouds.
I will plant trees
to keep you sheltered from the sun.
And I will light fire in the dark
only if you ask.
I will share with you my spark
and give you my smile.
I will lend you a shoulder
when itβs tough.
Being a friend
only…
if you ask.

Thank you Suzie!
Part of loving yourself, is loving all aspects of you, even the ones kept hidden in a bedroom drawer for years and now want to come out and play.
So no more hiding π I’ve decided to share what I am all about with the world. Something along the lines of not dying with your music still in your bedroom drawer π
I may not be the next ‘Lord Byron‘ or ‘Vincent van Gogh‘. I do find however inspiration in the act of creation and joy in sharing it and I hope it will inspire others to do the same. I aspire for a world where we all create art and words of wisdom and share it with each others.
Love yourself – change the world.
