This story is dedicated to the Prince who will remain nameless and to the Princess’ inner strength and inner light.
The Princess – Part 1
A short story by Leor Noham
In a land far, far away, lived a beautiful princess. She had dreamy green eyes, rosy pink cheeks and a smile that could melt mountains or at least brighten your day for hours.
She was kind and caring with a big golden heart. She talked to trees and the elements and animals were mesmerized by her enchanting voice.
One day the princess left her father’s kingdom in search of paradise or just acted on an urge to travel and explore this world.
She loved this planet and the people on it. So she followed the winds and her heart from one country to another.
Always amazed by what she had found and seen, amazed by the people she met, the experiences she had.
She loved and lost, she cried and laughed. She lived in the richest mansions and poorest shacks.
All the time ready to leave, ready to pack her bags and move on.
The princess has left her mark wherever she went, and made many, many friends.
Always amazed how kind and good the people of this planet were, how bright their eyes and pure their heart.
The princess’ father taught her from a young age to be independent and strong to care for herself, to be self-sufficient. However the princess loved company and appreciated help and support. She was always touched and moved by people’s ( even strangers’ ) kindness and compassion.
After years of travelling, searching for Paradise the princess realized that the only way to live in paradise is to create it yourself.
Her father’s kingdom was at war and since her father was healthy and strong, the princess found another land for her kingdom, a peaceful place to create her paradise.
The princess refrained from travelling for a while in favour of building her palace and tending to her kingdom.
She planted trees and flowers; brought produce from land afar and created jobs for her people.
The princess decorated her palace with gifts and pieces of art she brought from the countries she visited and with her own unique creations. She marvelled at her palace and blessed it everyday.
Her kingdom was beautiful and prosperous, the people were happy, birds and animals took up residence in the gardens and trees. The princess enjoyed every day in the halls and gardens giving thanks to the gods.
However the peace and prosperity didn’t last for long and at the peak of the kingdom’s riches water dried out and jobs were lost. Money stopped coming in and the princess was at risk of losing her kingdom and her beautiful palace.
Truth be told, the princess was preparing for such a moment for months. She travelled near and far, to different markets and trade fairs looking for new ventures and prospects, learning all she could about prosperity, wealth creation, consulting prophets and masters.
Recognizing the winds of change again, this time telling her to stay put and adapt.
Through her recent travel and research the princess met a prince disguised as a wizard or maybe he was a wizard disguised as a prince. And this man ( as a man he definitely is ) was like no other man she met before.
With his penetrating blue eyes, and intense sharp mind and his quirky sense of humour, this man showed her things she never saw before, got her to do things she had never done before and stirred emotions and desires in her that had long been forgotten.
She was mesmerized, intimidated and attracted to him all at the same time. And he seemed to like her too.
The prince was on his own quest and in search of his paradise, and couldn’t see what lay in the princess’s heart. He knew many people and was loved and adored by all. He was all the time in search for the truth and what he loves. Looking to travel, speak, teach and explore the meaning of life.
The prince told the princess to be authentic and follow her heart and she did and it led her to him.
She didn’t share her kingdom problems with the prince, how she was about to lose her palace, she didn’t share what’s in her heart either.
Looking for new sources of income and ways to keep financing her kingdom, the princess let the prince convince her to go into business with him. She was wary and scared at first but the prince alleviated her fears with promises of help and support. She trusted him.
By that time, after months of bumping into the prince in different markets and trade fairs, getting to know him and his worldwide adventures like a big jigsaw puzzle, love grew in her heart for him and she said yes ( to the business ).
And on one weekend in one of those market fairs the prince and the princess spent magical moments together and the princess thought “maybe it’s time, maybe it’s safe” to open her heart and share what she felt with this man. She was planning to invite him into her palace and show him her kingdom.
They had met and talked long enough beforehand.
However the next day, after this magical weekend, and the moment of the princess’s decisions, the prince had to leave unexpectedly on one of his worldly excursions.
The princess didn’t have a chance to open her heart. She didn’t know what to do with the new business. Debt collectors were at the kingdom gates and the landlord claiming back the palace and the prince, the prince was nowhere to be found…
To be continued …
Beautiful! Better than all the fairy tales I ever read as a child. Bravo, Leor. Your Princess shall yet go far and yes, when the magical moment comes to pass, she shall open her heart to her Prince and be loved by him …
